ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Lisa Dees
I am a wife and mother. I am a mentor, coach, counselor, teacher, instructor, daughter, friend, but most importantly I am a Daughter of the King! I am very passionate about teaching and helping people. I love to teach people about Alpha-gal Syndrome, the Word of God, and many other things. I do my best to pray, study, and teach with God at the center of everything. I pray He uses me and guides me everyday to show people His love and power.
A little about me... I have been married to my husband Colten since September 2019. We have two children at the moment; Aireanna and Clayton. I love our little family soooo much! I like teaching Beautifully Blessed women's ministry, Wednesday night service, women's self defense, firearms training, and really most areas of education. I enjoy riding horses, camping, fishing, doing crafts with my kids, cookouts, reading books, playing games, and spending time with my family. I know I am not perfect by any means, but I do try every day to remember to rely on God, live for Him, and remember he has got me and my family in His hands! Even in this struggle living with Alpha-gal Syndrome, severe allergies, and many dietary restrictions.
My background... I am a Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach and a Board Certified Biblical Counselor. As well as, I am certified in Sports Nutrition, Group Fitness, Personal Training, Women's Self-Defense, Firearms Training, and several other areas. I have a certificate of completion from GCTC in Pre-Engineering and a degree from OSU in Pre-Education.
I come from a long line of medical family; my dad is a RN, my grandma & other grandma, my grandpa, my aunt, my cousins, and a 2nd cousin or two all work or had worked in the medical field. I learned many things from my lifetime of medical talk and experiences with my dad being a RN. I also come from a long line of farmers/ranchers. Being around animals my entire life allowed me to grow up with many unique skill sets. We raised chickens, sheep, rabbits, horses, cows, a pig or two, and we hunted deer. We raised the animals, cared for the animals, loved some of them, even did competitions, shows, and 4-H. But we also knew that some of those animals we were raising to feed our family and others. So we learned to take care of them and then someday they would provide for us.
Who knew that growing up in a medical family and a farm/ranch family would help me so much now.... in my walk with Alpha-gal Syndrome, severe allergies, and dietary restrictions.
I am so excited to start The Art of Alpha-gal blog and watch God grow it, me, and each member who finds us! I hope that this reaches you where you are at. I pray that it can help lighten your experience with a diagnosis that can seem detrimental. That this blog can show you, slowly but surely this disease gets easier and more manageable. And with the right support system and some good food recipes there's greener grass on the other side..... Until next time. Lisa
